When: July 24 – July 28

Living in the NY tri-state area is a true privilege. We’re surrounded by charming local stables that nurture young equestrians and instill a deep love for horses. But beyond these local gems, we’re also fortunate to have access to high-caliber competitions where we can witness some of the nation’s top riders in action. The Millbrook Horse Trials (MHT) is one such event.

As the largest event in the Northeast with an advanced division, Millbrook Horse Trials is a significant fixture in the equestrian calendar. Part of the United States Eventing Association (USEA) and the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF), MHT offers a traditional eventing experience featuring three distinct phases: Dressage, Cross Country, and Stadium Jumping.

Millbrook Horse Trials is a treat to watch and experience not only for its advanced competition but also for its role as a critical stepping stone for riders aiming to elevate their careers. I vividly recall my first visit to Millbrook back in 1995. At that time, I was working as a professional groom for 4-star event rider Michael Godfrey. While he later competed at the prestigious Rolex Three Day Event, Millbrook was an invaluable experience and training step in the journey. Its challenging hills and diverse terrain provide excellent conditioning for horses, showcasing MHT’s role in preparing equines for the demands of higher-level competitions.

A Community Celebration

Drawing around 400 riders and staff from across the country, Millbrook Horse Trials is more than just a competition—it’s a community event that supports and celebrates local equestrian culture. By attending, you’re not only getting a front-row seat to great eventing from local stars to national, but also contributing to the vitality of local equestrian endeavors. It’s a wonderful way to keep the spirit of horse sport and the equestrian lifestyle alive and thriving in our area.

Best of all, attending the Millbrook Horse Trials is free! Don’t miss out on this fantastic opportunity to experience top-notch equestrian action close to home. Check out the daily competition schedule and plan your visit: Daily Competition Schedule.

Mark your calendars for this weekend, July 24 – July 28 and come celebrate the beauty and excitement of Three Day Eventing at Millbrook Horse Trials!
