A fun time was had by all at the Ulster County Horse Council’s Obstacle Course Show last Saturday at Ohioville Farm in New Paltz.
There were options for beginners on lead line up to advanced level. It was a great day of training for the horses with some advanced obstacles throughout the course for participants to navigate. From walking through “water” and under hanging colored foam and other glittery string components, to backing up in a straight path, opening and closing gates while mounted, and dismounting and remounting without touching the ground. Entrants were also tasked with picking up bulky and scary (to horses) stuffed bannanas, and circumventing tight walkways with lots of varying side materials in play to test the horses’ trust in their riders. Check out our gallery below for pics of all the fun.
